Holy Desire: The Path to Freedom (Priests and Seminarians Only)
January 1-5, 2018 - St. John Neumann Center - Tallahassee, FL
“Zeal” (eager desire or passion) for His Father’s house consumed Jesus (John 2:17). Just as the Father authored Jesus’ deep desires, He also authors ours. Even though His ‘Holy Desire’ can become disordered by the brokenness of our lives, He desires for us to live in freedom and fulfillment, including our emotions, sexuality, spirituality and intellect. In this five-day conference, participants learn to reclaim freedom through the restoration of 'Holy Desires', and by finding the fulfillment of their deepest desires in a more intimate relationship with God.
The morning sessions will include a solid foundation in Scripture, the Catechism, and Church teaching around desire, and touch on key issues like celibacy, intimacy and friendship. Topics include:
- Desires of Our Heart
- Disordered Desires
- Formation of Desires
- Identity and Desires
- Battle of Desires
- Fulfillment of Desires
The afternoon sessions will include a deeper exploration of identity (masculine, priestly), as well as the ways in which desire bring us into purpose, passion, and deep fulfillment.
The retreat includes opportunities for prayer ministry, journaling, daily mass, fraternal interaction and ample free time.
